Tuesday 30th July - walk *** – Early Landguard circuit – sunny and hot.

With another hot and sunny day forecastMag suggested we head down to the lovely Landguard Nature Reserve for a walk early, we actually parked at 8.30 and it was already pretty hot not helped by the light wind from the ENE! Still it was nice and quiet as we made our way slowly down the long straight path with the wild flowers which looked so stunning a few weeks ago are now past their best. A few birds and bunnies about but it was even too hot for them, just before the wardens bungalow we turned right and were greeted by a mass of starlings as we headed to the small wooden jetty and with the tide fairly high the Orwell lapped below us with a little more of a cooling breeze here! We followed the river back to the beach and walked in the sea all the way along the stunning Landguard beach, just lovely! Then home for breakfast and time for my exercises in a very hot back garden! The wind seemed to have picked up so I hitched the traziler and headed down to The Dip!

Tuesday 30th July – Windsurf ** The Dip at Felixstowe – sunny and hot.

Foil – 18.25 knot max , 4.25 knot ave, 2.08 knot hour, 0.00 knot mile, 10.93 km., 0.00 knot alpha.

Starboard Freeride 150 and a Evolution Freeride foil with a Sailworks Retro 7.5.

After a top walk first thing at Landguard Nature Reserve the wind seemed to pick up so I decided to check out The Dip arriving around two. It looked perfect with a nice breeze from the ENE, low water and wall to wall sunshine and hot too! Foil board was quickly on the beach and I rigged my 7.5, no wet suit today just my rash vest and neoprene shorts as I launched and had the most perfect 2 mile run out, it seemed too good to be true and it was as I gybed the wind dropped and it took me ages to get back. I then had a couple of short floundering runs hoping the wind would return, sadly it did not so I packed up and joined Mag at our old fried Mary for a cuppa and cake, fingers crossed we get more wind tomorrow, fingers crossed!
